I’ve always been a fan of the Ford Focus for its affordability and practicality. However, Ford just introduced the 2012 model and it’s even better than before.
The main changes are a few minor tweaks on the exterior plus the technology is more current. However, the 2012 Focus still delivers when it comes to value. Let’s face it; we are currently in a recession and what could be more appealing than a practical car with excellent mileage?!
The Focus is powered by a V4 engine with 140 hp. One of the newest additions tot he car is torque vectoring control for added stability and handling capabilities. Mileage stands at 38 mpg on the freeway and 28 mpg in the city. The Focus is available as a comfortable sedan or a sporty hatchback.
Let’s take a look at the interior; just because it’s affordable doesn’t mean Ford skimped out. Plenty of silver accents throughout the cabin give it a modern and classy feel. The base model comes with a telescopic steering wheel, a USB port and power windows. The seats are comfortable and can be upgraded to premium leather at an additional cost. Ford Buckeye, an Arizona based local dealer will carry the 2012 Focus.
The SE trim level comes with Mykey and MyFord technology. Mykey is a system that allows parents to control the audio volume and vehicle speed when their teens are behind the wheel. MyFord allows the driver to integrate cell phone use through the Bluetooth system. The system is voice activated which means you don’t have to fiddle around with any buttons. The Titanium model comes with Parking Assist which allows the vehicle to park itself while you simply handle the brakes.
The Titanium Package Handling package is available which comes with springs, sway bars and custom wheels. If you want extra storage space spring for the hatchback version which comes with 23 cubic feet of space. This can be expanded even further to 44 cubic feet once you fold the passenger seats down.
Best of all, this car is priced to sell at just $18k. Looks like we’ll have something to celebrate in 2012.
